How can businesses in the energy industry contribute to producing ‘clean’ energy? How can businesses contribute to reducing energy use?

Does “big foot” have something in common with the western society?

This complex question of what strives business to growth instead of seeking a steady flow and why everyone wants to buy things we do not need, create impressions that will not last on people we don’t care about is not easily explicable. Or maybe it is simple and we don’t want to realize it? Tim Jacksonexplains that briefly in one sentence : We are kind of blind faith in our own cleverness and technology and efficiency.

Out of a global perspective how is the environmental impact of humans going to be? According to the UN reportworld population in 2050 will be approx. 11.2 billion people. “India expected to become the largest country in population size, surpassing China around 2022, while Nigeria could surpass the United States by 2050”. I tried to figure out who are the current big foots per country: China, USA and Indiathat means that about 35% of the population live in countries where we have the highest carbons emission rates.

Furthermore, if we take into consideration that Nigeria, India and Chinahave one of  the highest rates of poor people. Besides being poor, however it might be defined,  about 795 millionpeople in the world do not have enough to eat! So how are we going to deal with 4 billion more people? Are we going to deal with it? Do we want to deal with it? How do we need to restructure our system?

Is it the ultimate solution, if the western society’s  life-style changes? What would happen if mutualism of society, economics and politics try to contribute for a common future on the same base?

Well I think that the question in the heading (which is quite metaphoric) needs to be answered with a yes, in a bit differentiated way, I assume that majorly we in the western society do not live in the Rocky Mountains(?). Nevertheless if we would compare the footprint sizes with the big foot, there might be some similarities in their size.
