Are there interlinkages between education, ethics, stakeholders waste dumping and product lifespan?

Do we have so much e-waste? According to US-EPA estimate of 5% to 10% global increase in the generation of e-waste each year. Astoundingly, this finding demonstrates that there is no scientific data available to explain where over 41.8 million tonnes of e-waste goes each and every year. Clearly, it does not simply disappear into thin air! – Why waste gets dumped, and what everyone can contribute against this huge problem?

A “simple solution” might be to change the hole lifestyle of (young) people right? But it might be a good idea to have ethic lessons in early ages, to educate young people and made them aware of sustainable issues. Could be more efficient then trying to change them when it is almost too late(?).

Which functions do governments have in terms of “ethic decision making”? Are there any regulations about planned obsolesces? I assume that there are not a lot of regulations because the e-waste increasein the past decades tremendously and will in future too. Forecast for global e-waste generated by 2018 around 49.8 Mt.

In addition to that it might be interesting whenever waste gets dumped in huge amounts in e.g. Europe, who controls/allows the shipments to Africa? What about the stakeholders which consist of near 20 Million informal workers in waste industry?

Conclusively if there is a battle between economic growth and trash producing, that battle is nearly lost, we need to start by ourselves, force our politicians to concentrate on the key values of ethics and act faster.

It might sound like an simplified conclusion nevertheless through over regulations  there are some interesting  political debates e.g. curvature amount of cucumbers, appearance of candlelightsor the daily exposure value of a borer noise.

However, the European Union is one of the few regions in the world where there is uniform legislation regarding the collection and processing of e-waste which is formulated in the WEEE Directive. I am afraid that e successor of the WEEE Directive will come into force in 2019 which is trying to get in total force since end of 2002.
